Our Programs
Three focused program areas advancing women’s empowerment, education, and economic independence in Kono District.
Concerned Women of Kono District works across three connected program areas, each grounded in the lived experiences of women and girls in Sierra Leone. Together they form a comprehensive approach to gender equality, community development, and social justice.
Where Our Work Takes Shape
Concerned Women Kono
Our district-wide initiative advancing women and girls across four strategic pillars: education, health, economic empowerment, and advocacy. The flagship program that ties everything we do together.
Pre/Primary School Rehabilitation
Restoring and strengthening early-childhood and primary education infrastructure so girls and boys in Kono District have safe, well-equipped learning spaces. The first foundation of long-term empowerment.
Agriculture & Women’s Empowerment
Hands-on agriculture and vocational training that gives less-privileged women the skills, land access, and feeder-road infrastructure to build independent livelihoods and lift their families.
How These Programs Work Together
Each program builds on the others. The school rehabilitation creates a foundation in childhood; the district-wide work continues that foundation through advocacy, health, and rights; and agriculture provides the economic independence that sustains families across generations.
